Nelson Passes Amendment to Increase Enrollment Amount at Charter Schools


Hagåtña, Guam – On August 24, 2021, during the Budget Session for Bill 55-36, Senator Nelson passed an amendment to increase the enrollment amount at Charter Schools from $6,150 to $6,200. The amendment also changes the appropriations for iLearn Academy Charter School from seven hundred (700) to seven hundred forty (740) students, and for Guåhan Academy Charter School from seven hundred forty (740) to seven hundred sixty- five (765) students. The amendment passed with unanimous support from all the senators in the 36th Legislature.

Charter Schools provide a rigorous academic curriculum for all their students. They place emphasis on Science, Technology, and Math. The Charter school's mission is to enrich and empower its students with their education practices.

"In light of the past year, we've seen COVID have a huge impact on our educational system. It is imperative that we include funding for education for our future generation, and we must ensure that their education is at the forefront. I want to express my immense gratitude to my colleagues for their unanimous support of this amendment," said Senator Nelson.
