Nelson Passes Amendment to Allocate One Million Dollars for The Department of Education


Hagåtña, Guam – On August 24, 2021, during the Budget Session for Bill 55-36, Senator Nelson passed an Amendment to allocate One Million Dollars ($1,000,000) for the Guam Department of Education (GDOE) under the Bonuses, Rewards, and Incentives Program (BRIP) for the Fiscal Year 2022.


"Our teachers are critical and essential to the future of our children and our island. Teachers continue to go above and beyond tirelessly giving their time and resources. We must do everything we can to support them to be successful,” said Senator Nelson.


The BRIP can be utilized to recruit more teachers and address the staffing shortage. This funding will assist the Guam Department of Education in accomplishing its goals.
