Nelson Allocates 1 Million Dollars GDOE Employee Salaries

Hagåtña, Guam – On August 24, 2021, Senator Nelson passed an amendment to allocate one million dollars ($1,000,000) for the Guam Department of Education employees for salary increments.

All classified Guam Department of Education Employees in pay grades A through V are entitled to a one-step salary increment for satisfactory performance, and the increments depend on what Step the employee is at currently.

"During this pandemic, our teachers have had to restructure their whole curriculum to online learning. Now they are transitioning back to face-to-face learning amidst all the COVID-19 concerns," said Senator Nelson.

"These teachers do not get paid overtime; the least we can do is instill a provision in this budget to ensure that they have their salary increments. This will help to show that we are appreciative of the work that they have done and continue to do throughout this pandemic," she added.
