Resolution to raise awareness on Human Trafficking and Stalking

January 11, 2018

There are 40,000,000 slaves in captivity today. Between 14,500 and 17,500 of them are trafficked into the United States each year. A total of 25,000,000 modern slaves live in our Asia-Pacific region alone. It seems unbelievable, and that’s because it is. How can so many victims be hiding in plain sight given the technology we have nowadays? The reality is that it IS happening and it is only by shedding light on this issue that we can raise awareness. The Guam Coalition does an excellent job, but it takes a community to fight against this.

I’m proud to have sponsored a resolution, alongside Vice-Speaker Terlaje, in order to raise awareness on issues such as Human Trafficking and Stalking. If it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community to keep that child, and all children, safe.
